Prince, the solitary genius who passed away suddenly at the young age of 57 on April 21, 2016, is still remembered fondly and continues to exert a profound influence on artists and music fans around the world.
This marks the first-ever analog vinyl release of Hit & Run Phase One, the 38th album of his career, originally released in September 2015 (original title: HITnRUN Phase One).

Prior to the album’s release, Prince delivered a now-famous speech at the 57th Grammy Awards in February 2015, passionately emphasizing the importance of albums as an art form. Later that same year, he released Hit & Run Phase One, selecting then–25-year-old Joshua Welton not only as producer but also as a co-composer on every track.

This experimental work reflects the forward-looking ambition of a master musician who also took on the role of nurturing the next generation. The album was created over a two-year period from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, Prince remarked, “‘HITnRUN’ sounds like today,” and even ten years after its release, those words still ring true—the series has not aged at all and continues to transcend time, being passed on into the future.
