Dream Theater is one of the most influential bands in the world of Progressive Metal, a group that has elevated rock music into a true art form through unmatched technical mastery, musical complexity, and emotional power. Since their formation in 1986, Dream Theater has produced a series of legendary works such as Images and Words, Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory, Train of Thought, and A View from the Top of the World, all of which have inspired generations of artists around the globe.
The band was formed in 1985 by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy while they were students at Berklee College of Music in Boston. They went on to redefine the Progressive Metal genre. Their breakthrough came with the 1992 album Images and Words, which featured the hit single “Pull Me Under”, propelling the band to international fame. Over the past four decades, Dream Theater has released more than 15 studio albums, earned a Grammy Award, and built a loyal global fanbase. Their signature sound fuses the heaviness of metal, the complexity of jazz, and the grandeur of classical music.
